Background of the speaker:

Shaykh Reda Bedeir, PhD, carries a life-time worth of achievements. From the land of Egypt, he was invited by the University of Calgary to teach Qur’anic Classical Arabic, and also served as an Imam for the Calgary Islamic Centre. He then moved to Burnaby, BC to serve as Imam the Muslim Chaplain at Simon Fraser University. He also served as a community counselor and personal development life coach.

Shaykh Reda holds two Bachelor's degrees, one in Islamic Sciences with AlAzhar Univeristy, one Masters degree, and a Ph.D with AlAzhar University in Applied Linguistics and Tafsir of Surat Yusuf. He has learned under prominent shuyukh such as: Dr. Sayed Noah, Sh. Abdul-Rahman Abdul-Khaliq, Dr. Salah As-Sawy, Dr. Muhammad Yusri and Dr. Abdullah Barakat.

He has authored many researches and papers, and has translated numerous books including: a 6-volume book entitled: “Afaat Ala-Ttareeq” (Obstacles on the Path of Da'wah) by Professor Al-Sayed Muhammad Noah into English and it was published in 1999.

Good show overall, though only a slight improvement in UPSR results 2010

PUTRAJAYA: The 2010 Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) results showed a slight improvement this year compared with last year, with the overall national average grade increasing by 0.02 per cent, Education Director-General Datuk Abd Ghafar Mahmud said.

A total of 48,327 of 482,334 UPSR candidates this year obtained all As.

"The number of pupils with all As rose to 10.02 per cent compared with 9.51 per cent last year.

"The number of those with good achievement (minimum C), however, dropped by 8,731 (1.37 per cent) compared with last year while the percentage of those with all Es also decreased by 3,955 (3.99 per cent last year to 3.39 per cent)," Abd Ghafar told a news conference here after announcement of the UPSR results this morning.

The results were released at schools nationwide at 10am.

There were 482,334 pupils for the UPSR this year compared with 506,620 last year, a decrease of 24,286.

Commenting on reasons for the decrease, Abd Ghafar said the minis-try did know the exact reason for it.

The results also showed a slight decrease in the gap between rural and urban pupils.

Abd Ghafar said the gap between rural and urban pupils achieving good results this year was 3.15 per cent compared to 3.60 per cent last year, a decrease of 0.45 per cent.

The gap for good performance between the two areas also showed a decrease by 0.16 per cent.

However, the overall gap between rural and urban students increased by 0.01 per cent.

On individual subjects, for comprehension of Bahasa Melayu (Pemahaman Bahasa Melayu) in Sekolah Kebangsaan (National Primary School) showed a significant increase of 4.2 per cent for Grade A although there was a decrease by 8.9 per cent for written tests for Bahasa Melayu (Bahasa Melayu Penulisan).

Both subjects also recorded a drop in Grade As at National Type Primary schools by 2.9 per cent and 3.4 per cent. Due to shorter hours for both subjects at National Type Primary and National Primary schools, can-didates were tested on different papers.

Meanwhile, Mathematics and Science subjects, saw an increase in Grade As, 1.9 per cent and 1.7 per cent compared with last year.

As for the Aptitude Test during the UPSR, Abd Ghafar said results showed a high increase in interest for social, culture and sports compared with last year.

The test, among others, Abd Ghafar said, would be used to develop quality students.It will also be used as part of the general assessment for selection of students for boarding schools together with their UPSR results and socio-economic standing.

For the peninsula, only those with 5As would be considered for board-ing schools while for students from Sabah and Sarawak, the minimum is 4As and 1B.

THE SUPERIORITY AND VIRTUE OF THE FIRST TEN DAYS OF THE MONTH OF ZULHIJJAH

Verily, the praise belongs to Allah, the Most High, and may the Blessings of Allah and Peace be upon His Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions, all of them. It is narrated from Ibn Abbaas (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) of said: "There are no days in which righteous deeds done in them are more beloved to Allah than these days, ie the ten days (of Zul-Hijjah). They said: O Messenger of Allah, not even Jihaad in the path of Allah? He said: Not even Jihaad in the Path of Allah, the Most High, except if a man goes out (for Jihaad) with his self and his wealth, then he doesn't return with anything from that." (Al-Bukhaaree, Abu Daawood and others. The exact wording is that of Abu Daawood).

It is narrated from Ibn Umar that the Prophet Muhammad (Blessings of Allah and Peace be upon him) said: "There aren't any days greater, nor any days in which deeds done in them are more beloved to Allah, the Most High, than these ten days (of Zul-Hijjah). So, increase in them the saying of Tahleel (La Ilaaha illa Allah), and Takbeer (Allah Akbar) and Tahmeed (al-Hamdu li-llah)" [Musnad Imaam Ahmad]. READ MORE...

Report Card Pick-Up Day

The 2^nd Semester Report Card Pick-Up Day of Adni Islamic School held on the 5 November 2010 went smoothly. Alhamdulillah. Due to the public holiday (Deepavali), there was a noticeable increase in the number of parents of both primary and secondary schools who came to meet their children’s class teachers. Subject teachers teaching especially Science and Mathematics were no exception for parents wishing to discuss their children’s academic progress. Meanwhile, the concurrent book sale organized by the Adni Teachers Welfare Club recorded very good sales as parents were interested in buying quality Islamic and educational books. The Report Card Pick-Up Day finished at 12:00 pm as male teachers had to be prepared for the Friday Prayers.

ADNI Islamic School in The International Conference

ADNI Islamic School, represented by its chairman Ir. Dr. Fauzi Abdul Samad invited to give a lecture on Islamic education in The First AMRON (ASEAN Muslim Research Organization Network) International Conference held on 2-3 October 2010 at Walailak University, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand.

The theme of the conference is “ASEAN Islamic Education: Change from within through Education”.

ADNI Islamic School was chosen as a model school by the CRP-PROJECT (from Thailand) after several visits to the school by Thai representatives.
Last year as represented by CRP-PROJECT, they visited Adni Islamic School and was impressed by the high standard which the school has achieved. They hope that ADNI's experiences in establishing and keeping the high quality Islamic schools will benefit not only Malaysian Muslims but also for Muslims around the globe particularly in Thailand.

ADNI Islamic School was honoured to receive the invitation by the principal coordinator of AMRON 2010 Conference, and to present a paper under the theme “Successful cases in Islamic Education in Malaysia”.

Adni Islamic School (represented by Ir.Dr. Fauzi Abdul Samad) has successfully given the lecture and shared the experience during the conference focusing on the experiences learned in establishing successful Islamic education in schools and communities.

I'TIKAF PROGRAM, 22 - 27 RAMADHAN 1431 H

The Secondary students have successfully completed their I'tikaf program for this year. The program was held in Masjid As-Syakirin at Jalan Gombak from 22 - 27 Ramadhan 1431H. Almost 50 students participated in the program.
We hope such program can mold them to be balanced Muslims spiritually, physically and mentally and help them become religiously more stable and matured....Amin..

Majlis KHATAM HAFAZAN held in ADNI

With the Hidayah (guidance) and Taufiq (ease) from ALLAH Ta'ala, ADNI Islamic School has successfully conducted the ceremony of completing 30 Juzu' of Al-Qur'an by one of the Tahfiz's students in the school.

The ceremony was held on Friday, 17 Ramadhan 1431H/ 27 August 2010 in the Musalla As-Shafi'ie, Sekolah Islam ADNI.

Ahmad Fadzil Hamka Mohammad Ruslan, a Secondary 5 student of Al-Khawarizmi has completed his Tahfiz program in the school in which he finished his remaining few juzu' of al-Qur'an under the supervision of al-Hafiz Ustaz Zubir b Mohd Sahar.

The blessed Majlis was attended by all secondary students (including tens of Tahfiz students), parents, teachers, and was officiated by Ir.Dr.Fauzi Abdul Samad, ADNI chairman who congratulated the student (Ahmad Fadzil Hamka) and appreciated the efforts by teachers in charge of Qur'anic Generation Development Program (QGDP) in the school.

The school hopes - through the program - that it could produce al-Huffaz (people who memorized the whole Qur'an) and equip them with the knowledge of today's era.

This is also the implementation and realization of what our Prophet Muhammad SAW once said:
أهل القرآن هم أهل الله وخاصته
"The people of al-Qur'an are members of ALLAH' and His special people " (Hadith Sahih)

STRENGTHENING THE BONDS OF UKHUWWAH THROUGH IFTAR JAMA'IE

Adni Islamic School has successfully organized the Iftar Jama'ie (breaking fast together) on Friday, 10 Ramadhan 1431 H/20 August 2010 AD.

The Iftar program was attended by students, teachers, parents, alumni and visitors who came to the school as early as 6 pm and participated in the activities which were held in the Musalla Al-Shafi'ie and the school field.

The programs started at 6.30pm with the Tazkirah Ramadhan, followed by the breaking of the fast (Iftar) at 7.25 pm followed by the congregational Maghrib prayers.

The dinner (heavy Iftar) started right after the Maghrib prayers and was held in Dataran ADNI (the school field). The program continued with the Tarawih prayers led by al-Huffaz in the school and closed with the Witr prayers.

Among the guests who attended the program were the School Principal, Tuan Haji Hasni Mohamed, Tazkirah Ramadhan Guest Speaker Ust. Mualimin M. Sahid who is also Adni Secondary School former headmaster), supportive parents (En. Ahmad Fakhri, En. Abd. Latif and many others). We hope such a program will benefit all Adni family members as it can be the medium for strengthening the bonds of ukhuwwah and thus binding their hearts for the sake of ALLAH in order to realize and enliven the true Muslim unity as well as the Ihya' Ramadhan, the sacred and blessed month in Islam. Adni Islamic School (Secondary) is organizing the Islamic Studies Week from 6 - 13 Ramadhan 1431 H (16-23 August 2010).
The launching of the week was officiated by the Headmistress, Pn. Rozana Hussein on Monday, 16 August 2010. According to the Coordinator, Ust. Afiz Oladimeji Musa, the week would see various programs and activities such as Ihya' Ramadhan, Tadarus Al-Qur'an, I'tikaf, Islamic Quiz, and most importantly The Janazah Management Practical Course which will be held on Friday, 20 August 2010.
We hope such activities and programs will help students enhance their understanding on Islam and improve their Muslim way of life and their closeness to the Book of ALLAH, Al-Qur'an Al-Karim. Any comment and suggestion can be directed to the Islamic Studies Coordinator, Ust. Afiz Oladimeji Musa.

Empowering English Proficiency Through Intriguing Activities

ADNI Islamic Secondary School has successfully organized this year’s English Week with a view to empowering English proficiency among students through many intriguing activities with the theme "Get Connected with the Rest of the World to Spread the Message of Islam".

The English Week (5-12 August 2010) was officially launched by Principal Tn. Hj. Hasni Mohamed and Vice Principal I Pn. Siti Zaiton Abdul Aziz in an unprecedented way in which both of them connected each of the given A4-sized letters of the English alphabet with a stretched rope thus forming the words "GET CONNECTED" - thanks to English Language Coordinator Tch. Rahimah's creativity.

Among the programmes and activities, which were mostly held in the form of contests and competitions, were public speaking, story-telling, debate, and the spelling bee titled “Spelladniable” that had been newly coined by Mr. Fauzi Yahya.

The last day of the English Week 2010 was thought-provokingly marked by a mock parliamentary debate by proficient school debaters from the Upper Secondary School (Form 4 and Form 5) during the Thursday Morning Assembly before the Secondary School Headmistress, Pn. Rozana Hussein officiated the closing ceremony with a tacitly short speech, enjoining the noble propagation of Islam through good akhlaq and the use of not only English but other languages as well.

Indeed, our raison d’etre in ADNI requires us to ponder over our absolute success, here and hereafter.

Adni family members, parents, students, teachers and visitors witnessed this year's Adni Carnival with a lot of happening activities recently. The great event, held on Saturday, 7 August 2010, on Adni Hadhonah and Raudhah's premises, Pusat Bandar Melawati, was also the main agenda of the Pre-School and Nursery's Open Day that was full of fun and exciting programs and activities such as the children's theatre by Kelab Teater Kuala Lumpur, story telling with Wardina Safiyyah, donation for Palestine, flea market, colouring contest, exhibitions and promotions of various food products and other merchandise by participating stalls, and lots of other activities.

Strengthening Qur'anic Language Through Arabic Week Activities

ADNI Islamic School (Secondary Level) has successfully organized a language week namely the Arabic Week with a variety of inspirational programs and activities in the efforts to spread and improve the proper Arabic usage among students. With the theme "The Arabic Language, The Foudation of Success", the Arabic Week (22-29 July 2010) was officially launched and closed by the Principal, Tn. Hj. Hasni Mohamed. Among the programs and activities that were fully conducted in Arabic and mostly held in the form of contests and competitions were public speaking, poetry recitations, Arabic Spelling, Arabic Calligraphy, and open quizzes, apart from Arabic singing performances and inspiring speeches by guest speakers. An overwhelming number of teachers and students alike actively participated in this language week's yearly event thus making it a great success.

The launching of the week was officiated by the School Principal Tuan Haji Hasni Mohamed and witnessed by the Chairman Ir. Dr. Fauzi Abdul Samad during the Thursday morning assembly on 22 July 2010 attended by secondary students at Al-'Ilmi Square.

The activities were supervised by all Arabic teachers led by the Head of the Arabic Department, Ust. Dedek Febrian.

Among the programs conducted were:
1. Imla' (Arabic Spelling) Competition (مسابقة الإملاء)
2. Khat (Arabic Calligraphy) Competition (مسابقة الخط العربي)
3. Arabic Conversation Performance (مسابقة الحوار العربي)

FOSTERING UKHUWAH ACROSS BORDERS

ADNI hosted four schools from Indonesia participating in the 2010 Students Attachment Program. There were 53 students from Deltasari Sidoarjo, SMP Al Falah and SMP Al Hikmah (1st batch)(6th January -12th January 2010), 26 students from Gema Nurani (11th April -24th April 2010), 80 students from SMP Al Falah and SMP Al Hikmah (2nd batch) (23rd Jun - 5th July 2010), 39 students from Jakarta Islamic School (3rd July - 13th July 2010) and 19 students from Darul Hikam from Bandung (5th July -20th July 2010). The visiting students were placed in classes with ADNI students where our young Muslims from both schools had an opportunity to mingle with each other and experience the learning together in a brotherly islamic environment.

Among the programs conducted were educational trips and visits to places of interest in and around Kuala Lumpur. We hope that the bond of ukhuwwah among students of the two neighbouring countries will be blessed by ALLAH Ta'ala and will last forever for the betterment of the islamic ummah, InshaALLAH. Dear Parents/Guardian,

May Allah bless you and your family with good health and iman, Insya Allah. With reference to the above, we wish to remind you of the following:

1. TAQWIM 2010

We regret to say that we have to make some changes on the above in accordance to the Ministry of Education Circulars. For your information, a circular from the Ministry of Education KP(BPSH-SPDK201/005/01/29) dated 7 December 2009 stated there is an amendment to the 1st Semester holidays for 2010 where it will be from 29th May to 13th June 2010, and ADNI printed our 2010 taqwim accordingly. However, a letter dated 28th December 2009, from Jabatan Pelajaran Malaysia Wilayah Persekutuan, JPWP12-05-09(67) (which we received only after school has started and the taqwim has been printed and distributed) stated that the amendment made earlier is revoked and the school holidays will be from 5th to 20th June 2010. Hence we will now have the 1st Semester examinations from 24th May 2010 to 4th June 2010 followed by school holidays from 5th to 20th June 2010. The report pick up will be held on 26th June 2010. We deeply regret any inconvenience caused due to the changes above.

2. CO CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES (CCA) AT SEKOLAH ISLAM ADNI

Insya Allah, CCA activities for 2010 will formally commence on 22nd March 2010 after the mid semester break. Prior to that, meetings and demos may be held. Attached is the updated CCA & ECA reference sheet. Some of the clubs have been reorganized in order to be more effective, Insya Allah. For example public speaking is now under the languages club. The Editorial, Young Journalist, IT club has been merged, and the various units will operate with a common goal.

Please fill up the updated students CCA & ECA participation form 2010 and return it to the school by Wednesday 17th February 2010.

3. HOSPITAL CONSENT FORM 2010

We also take this opportunity to remind parents/guardian to also return the Hospital Consent form given to your child earlier in the ADNI grey file.

4. PAYMENT OF ALL KIND OF FEES

Parent are required to take note of this IMPORTANT reminder. We seek your kind cooperation to make sure that ALL payments of any type of fees especially in cash, is made directly the to the school office. ADNI Teachers Induction Camp 2009

As a part of teachers motivational and induction program, all primary and secondary teachers participated in 3 days 2 nights KRS camp which was held in the Woods resort - Ulu Yam from 26 to 28 December 2009.
Among the objectives of the program:
* To strengthen the bond of ukhuwwah among the teachers
* To better understand the duties as murabbi
* To enhance the understanding of Syabab&Fatayat (KRS) program.
* To improve survival skills
* To enhance the characters of Murabbi in terms of discipline, commitment and responsibilites

We hope that through such program, teachers can implement whatever knowledge and skills they get to improve teaching and learning activities in school insha ALLAH.

ICT in Teaching Course Held in ADNI

ADNI Islamic School conducted ICT in Teaching One Day Course for all teachers on Tuesday 22/12/2009. The course aimed at preparing teachers to be ICT (computer) literate and equip them with the skills of using ICT for teaching and learning process. The 1 day course was conducted by experts from Maktab Perguruan Islam Bangi. We hope that such program will benefit all staff of ADNI (especially teachers) who will use the skill to make teaching and learning activities interesting and attractive. Congratulations to all teachers!

ADNI Islamic School Visit Al-Madinah International University

ADNI Islamic School delegation, led by Tuan Haji Hasni (Principal) visited Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) in Shah Alam on Tuesday, 8/12/2009.

The delegation was warmly received by the Honorable Rector, Prof Dr. Mohammad Khalifa Al-Tamimi, Acting Dean of Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Head of Design and Multimedia, Mr.Ayman Kamel Salim.

Tuan Haji Hasni briefed MEDIU on the activities and programmes carried out by Adni Islamic School and World Media Service (led by its CEO Mr.Hadi Tabaa). During the meeting between Adni Islamic School and MEDIU, both parties look into the possibilities for future collaborations in order to expand the education field.

During the visit, ADNI's delegation was also toured to MEDIU facilities and being briefed on the MEDIU operations.

We hope that such a visit could be the step forward to build relationship between the two institutions and both can benefit each other for the betterment of Islamic Ummah insha ALLAH.

The Ministry of Education - Private School Divison - has awarded ADNI Islamic School 4 stars for its achievement in Penilaian Standard Kualiti Institusi Pendidikan Swasta (SKIPS). It is indeed a blessing from ALLAH Ta'ala that ADNI is recognized by the Ministry for its standard and quality in the system of education and its content.

ADNI participated in lessening the burden of Padang Earthquake Victims

As an effort to implement the teaching of Prophet Muhammad SAW's saying : من لم يهتم بأمر المسلمين فليس منهم " Whoever is not concerned about Muslims's matters is not among them", and: كان الله في عون العبد ما كان العبد في عون أخيه " Surely, ALLAH will help those who help each other, ADNI's family (Students, teachers and staff) participated in lessening the burden of muslim brothers in Padang who suffered from the natural disaster that hit their land few weeks ago. It has been reported that the lost could reach 3000 people as many are still buried under the debris of collapsed buildings and landslides.

RM1,572.95 has been succesfully collected within one week and handed over to the representative of Ulilalbab Rescue Centre who came to the school today (Friday,16/10/09). On the picture: Mr. Muhammad Citra Nugraha (from Ulilalbab Rescue Centre) received the cheque handed over by the secondary prefect (Munawar) witnessed by number of other prefects from Primary and Secondary accompanied by Ust. Mualimin, Ust. Rozi and Teacher Haslinda.

In his speech, Mr, Nugraha thanked ADNI's family for the donation and assured that the money will directly be used for helping Muslims brothers and sisters in Padang - Sumatra - Indonesia.

HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK 2010

As an implementation of the wisdom "Prevention is better than cure" (الوقاية خير من العلاج), ADNI Islamic school conducted the Health Awareness Week launched in the school premises on 2 July 2010.
The launching program was officiated by the guest of honour from Ampang Puteri Hospital and witnessed by the directors, teachers and students.
The theme of the week:
" HEALTHY KIDS TODAY STRONG LEADERS TOMORROW"
A lot of programs and activities were conducted to spread the message of the importance of keeping and maintaining health and cleanliness, and to instill this spirit in the students' minds.

Quranic Generation Development Program (QGDP)

Introduction
Allah Ta'ala said in the Qur'an
الذين آتيناهم الكتاب يتلونه حق تلاوته أولئك يؤمنون به و من يكفر به فأوئلك هم الخاسرون
Those to whom We have sent the Book study it as it should be studied: They are the ones that believe therein: Those who reject faith therein,- the loss is their own (Al-Baqarah: 121)

Who is the Quranic generation?
The unique Quranic Generation is the generation of the companions of the Prophet ( may Allah be pleased with them ) who are divinely inspired by Allah . Although no other generation of this caliber can every again be found, it can be a benchmark to a formation of a renewed Muslim society.

Why is the Quranic generation ( divine movement )?
Islamic belief; exuded from Al Quran and As Sunnah, was not a national, economic or political movement but was a dynamic divine movement built solely on faith. Islam never was an abstract theory devoid of practical existence, but it was the only divine movement that brought out the ‘ noblest human characteristic, developing and using them for the construction of a human society.’ It was a unique movement that ‘comprehends the morals, manners, values and standards of the society, according to which persons, actions, and events are measured’. Therefore, Quranic generation is the only model society prescribed by Allah to be emulated by the believers.

How to actualize The Quranic Generation?
Full time Islamic schools are the hopes to renew the Islamic values and morals that are gradually and unnoticeably washed away by non-Islamic immersion in our society. Islamic schools can produce a self-actualized personality that is developed accordingly to please Allah and following the example of Quranic Generation. Such a personality develops within the context of Islam as not merely a religion or a belief system, but rather as a ‘deen’; total frame or reference, a complete system and way of life which embraces the entirety of man’s existence.

Why is the Islamic School?
School have major responsibilities with respect to mental health and personality development, because children spend a major part of their waking hours, perform much of their purposeful activity, obtain a large share of their status, and interact significantly with adult, peers, and the demand of the society. Unfortunately, regular school are expected to fulfill the role of intellectual development only, while the moral and religious development has been trusted on other socializing agents such as the home, supplementary evening religious school and the mosque. This separation of religion and academics has resulted in producing inadequate personalities. This where Islamic School comes into rescue.

SOLAR ECLIPSE PRAYER IN ADNI SCHOOL

Following the news spread out today on the happening of Solar Eclipse in some parts of the world (including Malaysia), ahamdulillah, all secondary students and teachers performed the Solar Eclipse Prayer today at 9.45 am until 10.20am in Musallah Al-Syafi'e.
The prayer was led by ust. Abdullah Bolajoko and followed by the Khutbah on the wisdom and explanation of the Sun Eclipse according to Quran and Sunnah.
May ALLAH accept all our deeds, and bestow us will his blessings, guidance and ease. And may HE make everything easy for us in implementing the important Sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad SAW. Amin

Re : POSTPONEMENT OF MUSLIMAH NIGHT : COVER GIRL 2009

May Allah swt bless us with good health and iman and guide us in all our decisions, ameen.

With regards to Cover Girl 2009, after consideration of the situation, the school has decided to postpone the event to Sunday, 26th July 2009, day time at 2.00pm to 5.30pm.

The choice of having the all Muslim program at night is a major concern to many parties. Many decided not to come because of the unsuitable time. Hence the objective of the Muslimah program to bring together the women, students, mothers, alumni and lady teachers will not be achieved if we continue to hold the program at night.

Your continuous support and consideration is highly appreciated.
